“You know the guy who can pick up any girl? I’m him. On crack.”
With an ensemble cast and short runtime, it should come as little surprise that Thank You for Smoking comes with some inherit shortcomings, including a complete lack of resolution for one of the film’s random plotlines. Nonetheless, it remains a brisk, enjoyable film that does a good job satirizing while keeping a down-to-earth mentality intact. Fingers are pointed throughout the film, but given the context, it’s a justified aspect that, thankfully, avoids feeling too overt to muddle the more pressing points.
