“I pay you to get on first, not get thrown out at second.”
Moneyball doesn’t aim to be another preachy sports film, but rather one of exposure and study. For this reason, many will likely be turned off by the slow pacing which builds to a quiet (though still conclusive) ending. Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill put on two of their more earnest performances up to this point, but are still playing characters you’d expect them to. Those who are familiar and enthusiastic about baseball are bound to get the most out of this movie, but anyone who’s patient and tolerant should be able to take some worth with Moneyball.
